What do I need to do to request a building permit?

Start by going to City Hall (102 So. Main St. or 775-463-3511) and request a building permit.  The packet you receive will fully explain the application process.

What are the Building Department hours?

We are open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  We will observe all Holidays approved by the City of Yerington.

This would depend on where they are in line and how clean they are.  The usual turn around time is 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 weeks.

How are the building permit fees calculated?

Building permit and plan check fees will be charged in accordance with section 423 of the Uniform Building Code ‘Building Valuation Data’ dated April 1993.  See Building Permit Fee Schedule.

How is a property zoned?

Maps showing the zoning of all properties in the city are available for the public to view at City Hall.

Does your department do testing on backflow devices?

No.  This test is often required on plumbing projects but should be conducted by someone who is certified for this type of test.  Look through the Yellow Pages for certified testers.
