POLICE OFFICER

     The Yerington Police Department is now accepting applications for the open position of Police Officer and for the purpose of   creating a hiring list to be in effect for a period of one (1) year from the date of testing.  The deadline for submitting applications will remain open until the position is filled.  

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  Minimum 21 years old, high school education, ability to pass written, physical agility, oral testing, and medical evaluation.  Background investigation to be done on applicants passing all phases of the testing.  Preference for P.O.S.T. Certification.  The completion of a High School education or equivalent (GED) is required.  Applicant must also possess a valid driver’s license without a record of suspension or revocation. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:  A Police Officer is the first line representative of the Police Department.  The Police Officer performs journeyman law enforcement activities including maintaining the peace, crime prevention, traffic control, investigation of crimes and all other duties, functions and responsibilities as assigned.  Starting salary is $31,465.11 for non post and $33,825.00 for current post certificate annually with paid vacation, sick leave, health care plan, an early retirement plan (PERS), 12 hour shifts and $850.00 per year uniform allowance.
